The Swim Team had a great season and an even better taper and it shows through their performances in Day 1 of the 3 day NEAC Championships.
The men's team started off the day with a very exciting race in the 200 FR relay. They earned 2nd place and was only behind the winning team by .70. This race also earned the men's team's first broken record of the meet.
Next event was the 500 FR where Britta Kilbourn (FR) had a PB by 8 seconds (6:26.31) and placed 4th while her team-mate placed 5th. Chris Guard (JR) had an amazing swim where he took off 8 seconds in Prelims and then another 12 seconds at Finals (5:37.03) to earn 3rd place as well as breaking the Wells record by 3 seconds.
Idolyn Villiotti (JR) had her best swim of the season in the 200 IM (2:37.23) placing her 3rd at the meet while her team-mate Caitlin Farris (JR) placed 11th. Drew Teter earned a PB by 4 seconds (2:12.29) earning 1st place at championships and 2nd on the top ten times at Wells. His team-mates Dan Schilling (SO) place 3rd with a PB (2:17.95) and Hunter Harris (SR) place 5th with a PB (2:32.82).
The final individual event for the day was the 50 FR. Gabby Spencer (FR) was seated first in the meet and held her spot both in Prelims and Finals with a time of 26.97. Gabby already broke our 20 year old record back in the Fall. Her team-mate Erika Bareiss (SO) also swam this event and earned 2nd and Sarah Sherboneau (JR) placed 12th. Matt Sleezer (FR) was also fighting for 1st in the 50 FR and place 2nd in finals only .03 behind. Sleezer earned a PB and broke the Wells record.
Women's 400 Medley Relay earning 2nd place - Idolyn Villiotti (JR), Erika Bareiss (SO), Gabby Spencer (JR) and Britta Kilbourn (FR).
