Coach's Swim Meet

Left to Right: Kait Mullen (SO), Hallie Hanson (SO) and Gwenn Lillie (SR)

In November I gave the team a fun challenge. I was planning on swimming at a U.S. Swimming Master's Meet and when I was thinking about what events to pick, I thought of an idea.....every meet the swim team wins they can pick one of my events! Well, they swam very well and won many times.

They picked the 50 FR, 500 FR, 100 Fly, 200 IM - A few of the women's team came to my meet to cheer me and Wells College Athletic Trainer, Janet.

The men's team had a great performance this past weekend where they beat Gallaudet University (65-34) for the first time in 3 years! The men also went against SUNY Cobleskill where the tied (50-50). There were many great races and below are some of the highlights.

Patrick Munroe (FR) had another stellar performance by winning all of his events and getting season best times. He swam the 50 BA (31.81) in the medley relay, 200 IM (2:20.54) and the 100 Fly (1:02.33). Munroe also won NEAC Athlete of the Week for the first time!

Team-mate and captain Tom Laier (JR) also had a great day by winning all of his events. He started the day with Munroe, Sleezer and VanArmongen in the 200 Medley Relay where he lead it in the BA (30.86). He also swam the 200 FR (2:05.30) and the 100 BA (1:04.31). Laier took a 4 second drop in the 100 BA which now places him 3rd on the All Wells Top Ten Times.

Sophomores Tyler Fischetti and Alex Lamphear had two great swims in the 1000 FR where they both earned PR. Fischetti dropped 5 seconds (12:39.46) and Lamphear dropped 3 seconds (13:15.49).

Next week is the last week of classes and then finals. It is up to the team to swim on their own until we start our double session training on December 31st. Our next meet will be January 12th at Buffalo State College.
