On Wednesday the team faced their first meet in the new year against SUNY Buffalo. Unfortunatley, they outnumbered and out scored both the men's and women's team but we were still able to break records and earn personal best times!
Meet Highlights...
We tried a new line up for the 200 medley relay and finished less than a second away from the record.
400 IM event made history at Wells College 4 times! Idolyn (SO) earned the 10th spot on the all Wells Top Ten Times. Dan (FR), Anthony (SO) and Chris (SO) all swam this event and earned a spot on the All Wells Top Ten List. Dan broke the record by 3 seconds. Anthony and Chris place 3rd and 4th on the Top Ten List.
Erika (FR) is swimming competively for the first time this season and has brought her time down another 3 seconds in the 100 FR (1:10.89) and 7 seconds in the 50 BR 40.70.
Colleen (SR) earned a personal best time in the 500 free by 3 seconds!
Our next meet is away at Mansfield University in a tri-meet against Pitt-Bradford.

Polar Bear Swim Team
Last day of practice was a bit too cold to swim so instead we pulled back the tarps and did a team "Polar Bear" jump - I believe the air temperature was around 38 degrees not including the wind chill!
We had to cover the pool back with the tarps so that the other teams training could possible hold practice (The next day's temperature was 28 degrees!)

Florida Training Trip
We have finally arrived for our training to Florida, it was a bit rough getting out of upstate NY with the lake affect snow hitting right near the airports.
Overall, there were 2 cancellations/changed flights and 3 delayed flights. But, everyone arrived safely ready to swim.
Unfortunately, the flights are not the only obstacle the swim team is facing, they are swimming through some cold weather. The high for the week is only 60! They are all pushing through the cold to get a good workout and a few of them are even sun bathing!
We are already half way through our doubles training before we return to the snow in NY and continue with doubles.
Our first meet will be at home on Wednesday, January 13th against SUNY Buffalo.
