Saturday, July 12th I, with many of my swim alumni did this triathlon together. I felt really good about this event especially since we had a good number of supporters.
This was my first ever triathlon 2 years ago, so it was nice to do this race and see if I was able to improve. The swim portion was difficult because majority of it was so shallow that it was easier to walk than swim. The bike was an entire different feel mainly because 2 years ago I rode my mountain bike and this year I bought a new road bike which enabled me to drop 10 minutes.
For the final portion, the run, I have to thank Carolyn (our assistant coach) for running with me twice a week for over a month. That really prepared me for this portion.
Overall, I took off 18 minutes from 2 years ago and it felt great! So great that I am planning on entering another triathlon on the 21st of September in Canadaguia. It is called the Finger Lakes Triathlon.
This triathlon is while you are all on campus, plus it is the day before the 1st day of practice so it would be great if you wanted to participate or cheer on the sidelines...
Give it some thought and email me if you are interested or would like more information.

60 Days until...
...swim season begins!
Can you believe it, in 2 months we will be back to the grind of morning weights, practice everyday and Saturday meets but most of all we will be back to doing what we love to do!
Below is a picture from last season, what do you think this season will hold for us?

Swim Camp
Starting today (Sunday) I will be coaching at a swim camp at SUNY Cortland until Thursday, so once again I will not be near the internet.
I got some great ideas from you all about what to post on here.
Remember this is not my blog, it's OURS, keep sending me ideas!

Dara Torres
What were you doing in 1984?
Some of you weren't even born yet, but Dara Torres was swimming in her first Olympics as a teenager. Now she is 41 and qualified for her 5th Olympic team. During the trials she not only came in first in both the 50m and 100m freestyle but she also broke the American Record. Below is her 50m freestyle race during finals of the Olympic trials in Omaha, Neb.
A 1/2 second lead in the 50m freestyle at Olympic Trials! Amazing!
Thanks samlynn8 for pointing out this amazing race!

Alumni Pictures
Back in May, Wells College had a reunion for the year 1973. Jackie's ('11) mom, Lois "Krieger" Ross ('73) went to reunion and was able to share some of her photos.
Alumni at Wells is a great time for many Wells grads. to meet their friends that may not have been able to see, in some cases, years!
If you are a current student or alumnae/i you already understand the close bond that you have with you class and how you will always be connected to the Wells College family.
Thanks to Jackie and her Mom for the pictures!

Olympic Swim Trials
Hello .. I am finally back from my vacations and a lot has happened.. specifically the Olympic Swim Trials in Omaha, Nab.
There were 9 World, 21 American, 17 U.S. Open and 45 Meet Records broken in just 7 days. Can you believe that, that was only the trials! Imagine what will happen during the actual Olympics!
The Men's and Women's team and coaches are posted HERE. One thing I quickly noticed was the huge age difference from Elizabeth Beisel, who is 15 up to Dara Torres who is 41!
Did anyone watch the trials? What race was your favorite?
